Greg Blatt on How to Become a Productive Entrepreneur

Greg Blatt is the strategic leader of IAC and its operating businesses.

He has had several twists and turns in his career in the past, from serving as a bartender to working on many executive roles, including being the CEO of Match Group and Tinder, the two major dating sites globally.

On his educational background, Mr. Blatt studied a bachelor of arts in literature and economics from Colgate University, where he graduated in 1990. He then proceeded to Columbia law school, where he graduated with a doctor of law degree in 1995.

In an interview with IdeaMensch, Blatt revealed the three key strategies to his career’s success. These are;

Learning from failures

Together with other associates, Blatt said that not all the businesses they started ended being productive. Others failed terribly, but they took all their failures positively, learning from them and putting the lessons on the next business. At the end of the day, the success you get after you pick up your pieces is much bigger than the failures you’d experienced earlier.

Flexibility

One should always remain flexible and not be overly confident about what one’s doing. Instead, cover as many bases as possible to increase your likelihood of success. Like for Greg Blatt, he admits that he was pretty confident that the online dating idea would grow fast and big, but he wasn’t sure if they’ll dominate. That’s why they never stopped at one. Instead, they created other sites, bought others that were already operating, and used different available strategies to reach as many clients as possible with the aim of growth. Based on this flexibility, instead of dominating the online dating market, they competed with each other, resulting in massive growth.

Keep questioning what you do

As long as you still have time, never stop doubting and questioning whatever it is you’re doing. Make the necessary changes as you move until you’re entirely sure that you can’t question it anymore. Then, you execute it and hope that it becomes successful. See this page for more information.
