Finding an attorney just get easier in New York State; the Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS), part of the New York State Bar Association, launched a website for residents to find a lawyer quickly. Often, individuals searching for an attorney are experiencing a problem and stressed; they need assistance finding a trusted lawyer in their community who has experience with their legal issue.
After an individual fills out a confidential LRIS online form describing their problem, the State Bar staff will locate a nearby attorney who has agreed to charge no more than $35 for an initial 30-minute consultation, unless the matter concerns specific issues, such as personal injury, where the fee is waived. While the LRIS helps New York State residents find reputable attorneys, it makes it easier for attorneys who are members of the New York State Bar Association to grow their practice.
